Pirelli is one of the leading manufacturers of high-end and performance tires and is striving to become the world leader in this segment by 2015. The company has always had a keen focus on research and development, investing around 3 percent of revenues each year in this area: one of the highest levels of research investment in the tire industry. The goal is to constantly improve the quality of Pirelli products in terms of performance, safety and environmental impact, all in line with the company s green performance strategy. In pursuing these objectives, Pirelli always aims to unite financial profitability with social responsibility.
Having been involved in motor racing since 1907, Pirelli is currently the single tire manufacturer for Formula 1 for the 2011-2013 championship seasons and for the World Superbike Championship. This is an important challenge in terms of technological innovation and is a key means of promoting the Pirelli brand. The manufacturer is one of the leading tire manufacturers in the world.
This was the first system in the world that combined two tires with a different tread: directional at the front axle and asymmetric at the rear axle.
A solution conceived for the most prestigious sportive and luxury cars.
Depending on the use and the type of car the P ZERO SYSTEM concept envisages the use of the P ZERO Direzionale on the front axle and the P ZERO Asimmetrico on the rear, or P ZERO Asimmetrico on both axles.
Using directional tires on the front maximizes the expulsion of water. In this way the asymmetric tires fitted on the rear axle encounter a drier surface.
The result is high directional stability and, also at higher speeds, exceptional levels of grip on dry and wet surfaces and high resistance to aquaplaning.
Three distinct tread areas.
Tread blocks on external area.
Pattern stability and wide contact area.
Lateral pattern stability.
Precise handling and control.
Original system concept featuring directional front and asymmetric rear. P ZERO SYSTEM can be either a combination of P ZERO Direzionale (front) and P ZERO Asimmetrico (rear) or P ZERO Asimmetrico all-round.
Vehicle J mark on the side wall. The tire is optimized for Jaguar cars.
Test Asymmetrical tyres are those which have a tread pattern that is different from one side to another - ie non symmetrical. Tread patterns vary, some giving particularly good dry grip, some have characteristics designed to enhance wet performance. An asymmetrical tyre offers the best of both worlds by combining the two patterns across the width of the tread.
ZR = Approved for speeds over 240 km/h. Please note that the actual speed will be individually calculated by the tire manufacturer depending on the axle loads, tire inflation pressures and wheel alignment.
