Kenda is one of the leading tyre manufacturing company based in Taiwan. They began in 1962 producing bicycle tyres and today they produce tyres for bicycles, motorcycles, ATVs, trailers, golf carts, farm equipment, trailers, lawn mowers, industrial equipment (forklifts etc.), automobiles, and even wheelchairs. Yep - basically anything that needs wheels. Joint ventures with companies like Cooper Tire and Total Fuels have also added to their expertise as tyre manufacturers. With multiple factories in Taiwan, Vietnam, and China, Kenda produces thousands of tyres annually, fuelling their growth globally. The company also sponsors the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers (how cool is that!) and the National American Multiple Sclerosis Society's Bike MS150, a fundraising cycling event to help combat MS.

Intensive Testing

Kenda Tyres are subjected to intensive testing programmes so that each achieves the highest levels of performance, durability and safety. Tests include having each tyre go through a range of challenging situations and environments including dry, wet, snow, muddy and icy conditions. Regulations from various traffic safety agencies are taken into consideration when designing and producing each tyre. Kenda always had plans to break in to the global market even back in the 60s when it just produced bicycle tyres in Taiwan. Through years of expansion, Kenda now distributes its tyres to over 150 countries and has more than 10,000 employees. It maintains corporate and technological hubs in Asia, North America and Europe, coordinating with local distributors carrying their products. All seven of their factories have acquired ISO 9001 standards and have been certified by the various safety and regulatory boards worldwide to enable them to expand globally even more.

Kenda provides tyres for everything - from private vehicles, bicycles, motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, farm equipment, trailers, lawn mowers, industrial equipment, to wheelchairs and even golf carts (they are the largest supplier of golf cart tyres worldwide). Innovative Designs

Kenda's innovate designs ensure that their tyres are safe and dependable. The Komet series for passenger cars, for example, has an added rim shield to prevent accidental curb damage. Unidirectional and V-shaped treads improve handling at any speed; while their asymmetrical tread designs provide a comfortable ride in challenging off-road conditions. Kenda's winter and snow tyres feature zigzag treads and softer rubber compounds for increased traction on icy and snow-covered roads. Eco Friendly Tyres

Kenda has taken concrete steps to find viable and eco-friendly tyre manufacturing solutions. Recently, the company launched the Vezda Eco, Kenda's first green tyre model. It is designed to perform just like a standard touring tyre but significantly reduces fuel consumption and in turn, expenses. But beyond money saved on fuel is that the Vezda Eco also reduces the amount of CO2 emitted due to its advanced silica-infused tread compound which decreases rolling resistance. So you save money AND lessen your personal carbon footprint.

Strategic Acquisitions and Partnerships

Kenda has always established strategic partnerships with companies that helped push them to the forefront of tyre innovation and production. They entered into a joint venture with Total Fuels and a distribution partnership with Cooper Tyres. Kenda then acquired the American tyre companies Dexstar Wheel and Martin Wheel who produce wheel rims and tyres for lawn & garden, industrial, power sports, and trailer & towing applications greatly expanding their portfolio. Kenda also purchased Starco as they look into penetrating the European tyre market more aggressively.

Research & Development

In 2015, Kenda opened its American Technical Centre in Akron, Ohio which handles all the engineering activities of new tyre products for Kenda North American market while working closely with the primary research and development centre in Taiwan. Both facilities are focused on developing new tyre innovations, designs, engineering tools and materials to improve the quality of Kenda products. The testing centre includes rubber compound analysis, chemical and machinery laboratories, a tire dissection lab, footprint pressure measurement, an environmental chamber for temperature testing, and ride and handling support.
