Trailer Tyres
Truck Tyres for long-haul freight trailers and articulated trucks come with three distinctive tyre types for optimum handling. There are steer tyres which are fitted to the front, or steer axle and there are drive tyres which are the tyres that propel the vehicle. Then there are Trailer tyres. Trailer tyres are the tyres closest to the rear of the truck. Trailer tyres are designed to withstand strong lateral and braking forces and varying loads. They are designed to perform best in free-rolling, trailer axle positions and are equipped with reinforced sidewalls to protect the tyre casing from roadside wall abrasion and damage. Trailer tyres are generally wider than steer tyres and similar in width to drive tyres. The circumferential grooves of trailer tyres are not as deep as steer tyres but are sometimes twice as numerous. There is also a common and domestic understanding of what function a trailer tyre serves. The trailer tyre a boating enthusiast, for example, might use, is the 13-14inche type on the trailer they tow behind their car. Domestic towing trailer tyres are smaller, narrower tyres designed to bear heavy loads with basic all-weather tread patterns.
